Life: Boxing (up a life)

I'm alive.

Promise.

Currently we are surrounded by boxes full of our life and memories here. We still have another day of packing ahead of us as well. It's always odd to have people come in to pack up our stuff, but I'm glad we don't have to do it ourselves. Prepping alone is enough to send me over the edge. Stress is commonplace for me while moving. In fact this move has been the most stressful one even though it will be our third.

Normally we'd have to deal with moving and Nate would have to out process from his job. This time Nate had to finish his thesis, go to class, defend his thesis, take finals, go on TDY, graduate and out process.

Busy.

But we're almost done. And on Friday we hit the road.

Before I go, here's a little look at our life in boxes.

I don't know when I'll get back to the blog. We'll be traveling for a bit and who knows when internet will get set up. So yeah, don't go anywhere cause I will be back!

Life: That whole moving thing...

...Yep it's happening! That's what our bedroom currently looks like. Yes we are living the glamorous life of college students at almost 30 years of age (no offense to college students). Once upon a 2 days ago our bedroom looked a lot like this...

IMG_3046

We had a love hate relationship when it came to our furniture. We loved how it looked and the quality was great. But the furniture was huge and it barely fit into our current bedroom and will not fit nicely into the home we're moving into, unless we want to crawl over the bed to get to things. The dresser itself was massive, but had awful storage. That's what happens when the drawers are made from solid 1 inch thick slabs of wood. The drawers also didn't pull out very far so you were stuck with shoving your hand to the back and hoping you found what you wanted. The furniture worked perfectly in the large bedroom we had in our last home. Yet for some reason we never took into consideration that we would move and most likely end up in a smaller bedroom. I think that was me trying to ignore the fact that the military moves us about every 3 years...

So after much deliberation we decided that we should sell our master bedroom furniture. It wasn't an easy choice and I almost changed my mind last night...after we had taken it all apart and moved it downstairs. Which wasn't easy mind you. At 10pm we ran through our likes and dislikes all over again. We looked at some furniture ideas and I calmed down. We wanted this change and it's good for us. I know it doesn't seem like a big deal and it really isn't in the larger scheme of things, but it's something we just needed to do.

Though currently we'll be living with a mattress on the floor. For 3 weeks. Let the good time and packing roll...

Manicure Monday: Wet n Wild Be Jeweled swatches

3/05/2012 11:08:00 AM Ashley 2 Comments

I'm back, as promised with swatches of the Wet n Wild Be Jeweled line that I found at my local grocery store.

I swatched each color twice. The first of the two colors is just two coats of the polish and the second is two coats of the polish over Zoya Trixie, which is a silver.

These colors are duochrome, meaning that they flash two (sometimes more) different colors depending on the light.

These were not easy to capture the color on. My camera went after the shimmer more than the color. So here's a rundown of the colors:

~The Crown is Mine (pinkish purple with what might be a gold flash of color)

~Bow in my Presence (blue with flashes of pink)

~Speak When Spoken To (blue with flashes of a light purple)

~Jewels For Your Highness (pink with what looks like a possible orange/copper flash of color)

~Born Into Privilege (green with hints of gold and pink)

I'm still not sure when or where you are going to be able to buy these. So I'd say check anywhere that sells Wet n Wild polish.

Beauty: Wet n Wild "Be Jeweled"

3/02/2012 08:54:00 AM Ashley 1 Comments

Sooner or later Nate is going to learn that I should not be left alone in the beauty aisle of a grocery store, as I am bound to find another nail polish (or twelve) to add to my collection. Or maybe he doesn't care as he gets to see me when I get excited over finding something super pretty and sparkly. As was the case two nights ago.

I have been looking for the China Glaze Prismatic line for awhile now, and while I see everyone posting about them I just can't find them. I was about to give up and just buy them online when I turned the corner at the grocery store and saw a display staring back at me.

(Pretend like the display is full as that's how I found it)

Wet n Wild seems to have a new Color Icon polish line out called Be Jeweled. There are 5 beauties that look oddly similar to the Prismatic line. Granted I have only seen pictures of the Prismatic colors. At $2.99 a pop I grabbed up all 5 and came home to do some research.

The thing is this line is nowhere to be found on the internet. Nowhere. I even went on to the Wet n Wild website and found nothing. The Be Jeweled line is pretty much non existent. Seeing as I couldn't find anything on the line, I couldn't find out if they are China Glaze dupes. I posted on a forum asking Prismatic owners what they thought and it seems as though they look like dupes to them. The only major difference that we're seeing is that the Prismatic line has 6 polishes and the Be Jeweled line only has 5.

So somehow I found this mysterious collection that seems to not exist. So odd. But I'll take it. I'm still hoping to somehow find my way into owning the China Glaze Prismatic line. If for some reason that happens I'll definitely do a comparison.

I honestly can't tell you where to find this other than wherever sells Wet n Wild products. I found mine at my local Meijer. I stopped by Walgreens and found nothing. So this was either a very early, acidental release or it's very limited release. I just don't know.

Check back on Monday as I'll be posting swatches of them! But to hold you over here's a sneak peak of "Speak When Spoken To".
