I'm losing my stuffing

Some days you wake up and are ready to take on the world, while some days you feel like you got tossed around in a dryer.

"That's an odd way to put it" you say?

Not at all, because at this moment I very much feel like this...

What's the moral of this story?

If your pillow is looking a little old, perhaps you should toss it, just not into the dryer.

Goose down is a bitch to clean up.

To perk me up, I'm thinking I just might have to post my giveaway later today. Perhaps I will make it so that two people can win. It's going to probably be one of my largest giveaways that I do!

I've got over 50 wonderful followers and many more who use RSS feeds...how about for this giveaway I get all of you out to say hello. I'd love to hear from you all!

How I wear green shadow

Yesterday I gave you all a peak into my green eyeshadow collection. Today I wanted to show you all how I wear it. I even went so far as to show you my everyday green eye and a bright green eye. Now, I am by no means amazing at makeup, but I do what works for me and my eyes.

First is the look that I tend to sport the most when I am wearing green on my eyes.

For this look I used...

IMG_1534
L-R: MAC shadow in "Vanilla"/Bare Escentuals shadow in "Magnetize"/MAC shadow in "Greensmoke"/MAC pigment in "Melon"/MAC Eye Kohl in "Tarnish"

Next up is the bright green eye look.

To achieve this look I used the following...

IMG_1526
L-R: Heavenly Natural Beauty "Mix Drops"/MAC shadow in "Swimming"/Heavenly Natural Beauty in "Fairy Wings"/Smashbox shadow in "Green Room"/MAC shadow in "Creme De Miel"/MAC shadow in "Vanilla"/The Body Shop liquid eyeliner in "01" (tarnished gold)

IMG_1531
I wanted to swatch Heavenly Natural Beauty in "Fairy Wings" because in the jar it looks like a basic white, but when you put it on it turns into a brilliant shimmering gold and will even pick up other colors depending on what you have on.

There's how I play and incorporate green into my everyday life.

If you have any questions on how I achieved either look let me know in the comments! I always love hearing what you all have to say!

Green eyeshadow

A rather boring title I know, but the wonderfully beautiful Andi over at Saltwater Dreams got me thinking about green eyeshadow and trends. Seriously...run, don't walk, over to her wonderful blog! I can't get enough of her OOTDs and makeup tutorials.

First on trends. Man, I just do not follow them the way I should, especially with my love of all things fashion and beauty as well as the fact that I worked in clothing retail. Recently I have been more immersed in what the ongoing trends are because of some wonderful blogs I read. It's always interesting to see what is going to be a popular look or color, because so often I find that it's something I already have or have been doing for years.

So you could have colored me surprised when I read Andi's post about colors for eyeshadow. If you looked at my very large collection of eyeshadow you'd notice a wide range of colors. My collection has away been that way.

Today I rummaged through all of my eyeshadow and pulled out the greens that I own. Suffice to say, I own a lot. I blame point to my mother for this love of green. While I was smitten with all things silver, green was sneaking its way into my life. This isn't a bad thing by any means, especially ever since my discovery of auburn hair.

I wanted to show you all that green is a easy and friendly way to add color into your makeup, while also still being a fun bright color as well. While this isn't a makeup tutorial, I did do color swatches of the main go-to greens for me. I'll probably do a "how I wear mine" tomorrow.

First up are the four shadows I use the most for my green eye looks...

IMG_1501
In this line up (L-R): MAC in "Swimming"/MAC in "Sumptuous Olive"/Calvin Klein in "Darkened Green"/MAC in Greensmoke"

Here they are swatched on my arm. You'll notice that I swatched each color twice, the lighter one (on on the left of the two samples) is the eyeshadow applied dry and the darker/foiled one (on the right) is it mixed with mix drops (you could use water). This is what I did for all of the swatches in all of the eyeshadow pictures.

IMG_1498
Taken in natural light. L-R: Swimming-sea green/Sumptuous Olive-khaki green/Darkened Green-olive green with brown tones/Greensmoke-tarnished olive

Next up are the shadows I use a little less frequently.

IMG_1514
L-R: Urban Decay in "Homegrown"/Bare Escentuals in "Tortoise"/Bare Escentuals in "Black Emerald"/Smashbox in "Green Room"/Sephora in "Chrome #03"

IMG_1506
In natural light. L-R: Homegrown-bright grass green with gold/Tortoise-dark brown with a greenish gold shimmer/Black Emerald- black with emerald shimmer/Green Room-dark Kelly green with shimmer/Chrome #03-brown green

The next are ones that I didn't swatch because I'm bad and don't use them as much as I should.

IMG_1505
L-R: Milani in "Shamrock" (a leaf green)/Sephora in "Fame and Fortune" (light green with silver glitter)/Sephora in "Python Bag" (deep olive green with silver glitter)/Heavenly Natural Beauty in "Inked" (deep emerald shimmer)/Heavenly Natural Beauty in "Forgiven" (jungle green with dark green shimmer)/Heavenly Natural Beauty in "Sea Dragon" (jade/teal green shimmer)/Bare Escentuals in "Magnetize (light yellow/green shimmer)/Bare Escentuals in "Mermaid" (grey/green)/Shiseido in "Clover Dew" (light mint green)

So there are all of my shadows and for an added bonus to you all here are my eyeliners and one mascara...

IMG_1517
L-R: MAC in "Mystery" (black with teal)/MAC in "Tarnish" (blackened forest green)/MAC in "Minted" (bright mint green)/Hard Candy in "Hyper" (khaki green/brown with gold glitter)/Hard Candy in "Girlie" (khaki green)/Sephora in "Silver Green" (greenish silver)/The Body Shop in "03" (glittery emerald green)/CoverGirl Lash Blast Luxe mascara in "black emerald" (black with green shimmer)

So there you have all of my green makeup.

If there is a color you'd like to see that I didn't swatch let me know. Also, if there is a color you'd like to see on the eye I can do that as well. Have you added green to your collection yet? Is there a green that you love?

Wall art help

Lets face it, good quality artwork can be pricey and a huge decision. Rightly so, it's something that you want to pick out because you love it and want to have it for a long time. What about those times when you just need something to liven up a bare wall?

This has been my issue in our guest bedroom. I already have great bed and side table. I have even better bedding which I love love love. I haven't really posted about it, but it does show up in pictures. For those that have asked I got it at Pottery Barn. I found it when I was browsing online and I got it instantly. I didn't even have to see it in person which is very odd for me.

So here is this bright happy bedding, and these stark white walls. I'm slightly ashamed of the fact that I make such a big deal about having an awesome looking bedroom and yet I ignore the walls. Part of me goes...we move why bother? And the other part thinks I'm full of crap.

Now I am here...asking you all for your help. I found some really awesome die-cut scrapbook paper that I am going to use for quick, easy, inexpensive artwork for above the bed.

IMG_1482
The blank wall above the bed. Yes I have misquote netting, but it's going away. I always had a dream to own one and getting to sleep with the netting all around me, but I think it's time to move on.

I have three different colors and each is a different geometric shape. I like the idea of the geometric patterns being paired up with the soft whimsical flowers and trees on the bedding.

IMG_1484
Die-cut paper.

As you can see I have red, green and blue. Which are all colors in the bedding. What I want to do is put a solid color paper behind them. This is my problem, I don't know what to go with and I want to know what you all think.

IMG_1486
IMG_1487
Option #1: Using a lighter shade for the solid.

IMG_1488
IMG_1489
Option #2: Using almost the same exact color for the solid.

IMG_1491
IMG_1492
Option #3: Using other colors found in the bed.

IMG_1493
IMG_1494
Option #4: Again using other colors in the bed.

IMG_1496
Option #5: You pick for me from these colors.
Colors from L-R: Red, light red, orange/yellow, grass green, light green, light blue, blue, purple, brown.

Let me know what you think I should do...

I'd really love to know what you think beyond the poll so let me know in the comments below!

TRIA (session #5)

I am a bad bad bad TRIA user! With the trip to Colorado last week and me getting back into the decorating/cleaning/organizing I totally forgot my TRIA session was today. So now the TRIA is charging and my legs are shaved...which means I also forgot to take pictures.

I'm hanging my head in shame.

I can tell you that if you read my last update with the pictures...that you can go back and look at those and pretend that there are a few less hairs (some of the patches are larger). That's what my legs looked like today.

I'm really hoping that I'm not hitting a wall with the progress. If I have to use it for longer than the magical 9 treatments I will. I just really want it to work. It sounds cliche, but if this does work it really will change my life and the way I have to deal with my skin issues.

I just want to let everyone know who is following these treatments that after today's treatment I am suppose to be going to one treatment a month. Instead of making all of you wonderful readers wait for a whole month for an update, I think I am going to start treating my underarms!

Exciting!

So, look for my underarm treatments to be showing up here soon!

Thanks to everyone who is following these sessions. I love answering your questions, so keep them coming. I'll will try to answer them as best as I can!
