Fashion: Dress worthy

A well known fact, that I probably only knew, about myself is that I had a Bluefly addiction. Like hard core. I haven't bought anything from there for awhile, which is both good for my wallet and sad for my wardrobe. For awhile it was my go to for designer shoes and beautiful cocktail dresses. I even snagged a few ball gowns from there when I went to a few formal military events.

Even though I am trying to be nicer to the wallet, I can still look...and drool. So today I wandered through some of my favorite sections and gathered some of my favorite items. Seeing as there was sooooo much that I was in love with, this post will deal with just the dresses!

So join me in drooling over pretty things!















I actually own both of these dresses. The gown I have is actually navy, but the same exact cut. Though I am drooling very very very badly over that green. Mmmmm.

Man I sometimes forget how much I love dresses. I'm ready to be able to wear them again!

Food: Spicy Ketchup

I found a new ketchup that I may not be able to live without. This is a serious love at first taste moment y'all. It's from Maya Kaimal and I bought a bottle of their spicy ketchup at Williams-Sonoma a year or so ago. It was a total impulse buy, much like everything is at that store. It also didn't hurt that it was on sale for like $3.


I mean $3...why not!?

It took us awhile to pop it open, but when we did...OMG! It's chunky, but not so chunky that it is no longer usable as a dipping sauce. It has the warmth of cumin and a little added heat from peppers. It's the perfect balance of flavors, with nothing being overpowering.

This is going to have to be a staple in our household. Guess it's time to start making french fries!

Life: After the storm

This will, hopefully, be my last post about the winter storm. Currently it's windy and lightly snowing. All of this wind has pretty much blown all of the ice off the trees, so hopefully we won't have anymore downed branches.

Looks like we're going to be staying in today. To fight the cabin fever I am working on lots of crafts. So maybe...just maybe I'll be posting about some of the things I am making. Hint Hint!

Life: Crashing and crackling all around

Just thought I would give a quick update about the weather here. We're currently getting more freezing rain...which is coating the ice covered things in more ice. Oh and the wind has picked up. Fun times.

The lights have been flickering for a few hours and all we can hear is the cracking and crashing of tree branches falling all around us. One of our trees is hanging on for dear life, but the ice is winning. While none of the crashing is comforting, a few minutes ago my husband and I were brought to our feet as we heard something crash into our house. When we opened our front door we were greeted with this...

All of our houses are connected, so really this hit our neighbor's house.

The branch is HUGE...like the size of a man's fore arm. It had to of come inches within hitting one of the many windows on the front of our neighbor's house.

The front of our house isn't much better. Luckily the trees that are losing the most limbs are further away from our house.

I can only imagine the devastation we're in for when morning comes. The Air Force base has already closed for tomorrow, so it's bad.

Again, I hope everyone that is in this storm is keeping safe and very warm!

Life: Ice ice baby!

We're one of the many lucky people who live in the Midwest. Which means...ice storm!

I may or may not have woken up this morning, looked outside and thought "eh no biggie". Then of course I wasn't looking at the ice covered branches and power lines. While, currently, this isn't as awful as the ice storm I was lucky enough to endure while in Nebraska a few years back, it definitely is going to cause some issues. The Air Force base even closed here, so no school for Nate today.

Which leaves us with a whole day of nothing to do, as we are pretty much trapped in our house. Nate will probably play video games (as long as we have power) and I am probably going to craft. Actually I have to craft, seeing as our wine tasting party is quickly sneaking up on us!

But before I go, I wanted to share some pictures I snapped of things around our front yard.
