Beauty: TRIA (session #1)

I've decided that Thursdays are going to be my TRIA days. So, if you want to follow me on this hair removal journey look for my updates every two weeks.

My plan right now is to just do my lower legs, knees and a small part of my thigh. I may tackle my armpits on Fridays, we'll see. You can only do treatments every other week (or every two weeks), that way the follicle can purge the hair (yummy I know).

After doing my legs I can say, yes there is a twinge, tickle, pinch, tingle feeling that goes along with the laser firing off. I've decided to keep mine at L3 (it goes from L1-L5) for comfort. I figure it's a good level as it will allow hair to be removed at a decent pace. The TRIA holds its charge for about 30+ minutes on L3, which is enough time to do one calf (could be different depending on how big or small your leg is). So three charges later my legs were done (for the amount of hair I wanted to remove). Also, make sure you shave well if you use this. If it finds any hair it tingles/pinches.

Now for the pictures and embarrassment...

...I'm taking pictures of my progress, which means you all get to share in my shaggy, hairy leg (before picture). I'm doing this to see if my hair growth really does lessen.

You've been warned about the furriness, so don't look any further if you don't want to see it. I'm posting this so that I (and anyone interested) can watch the transformation (if there is one).

The ugly truth and my before treatments photo.

I am not proud that I let my legs get this bad, but this is yet another reason why I want my hair to be gone forever.

Freshly shaved and you can still see where the hairs are. This is one of the many fun things about having very very very pale skin and dark hair.

Getting started!

Not gonna lie I was very excited to catch the laser (pew pew) firing off! Funny thing, it's actually red in person but shows up blue on the camera.

I look forward to continuing these treatments and seeing what the outcome is. If you have any questions about the TRIA let me know! I'll try to answer it the best I can. See you two weeks from now, with another hairy leg picture. I know you're just as excited for that as I am.

Oh and something I do have a gripe about, it does take a bit longer than normal to charge. Which is aggravating if you are wanting to get this done in a timely manor.

  3. I have so many questions...Where did you get the laser? Was it expensive? How much does it hurt exactly? I had no idea you could do this at home.

  4. Rebecca: Nate got it for me from the TRIA website, http://www.triabeauty.com/. YOu can also buy it from Nordstrom as well as a few other places. It is currently $600 (it was $800, but they did a price drop in November). You can do a payment plan through the TRIA website, which is a really nice option. Plus there is a 30-day money back guarantee. The pain varies in all honesty. The best way I can describe the pain is like a quick snap of a rubber band or a tingle. Sometimes it doesn't even hurt, it's very random.

Hope that helps answer your questions!
