Beauty: Alice in Wonderland beauty haul

Unless you have been living in a rabbit hole (had to do it), you know all about the craziness that is Tim Burton's "Alice in Wonderland". While I'm still not a 100% on board with the movie, I am loving all of the fashion and beauty spin-offs that this movie is causing.

When I saw the new line from OPI, I just knew that I had to have two of the colors. Who am I kidding, I wanted the glitter polishes!

Colors from L-R: Off with Her Red, Absolutely Alice, Mad as a Hatter, Thanks so Muchness.

I was finally able to see the colors in person and the glitters are ah-mazing! I will say that I am a little disappointed that OPI went with two reds for this line, especially with the fact that there are only four colors. "Off with Her Red" is a cream color and in person it is definitely a red with an orange tone to it, while "Thanks so Muchness" is a blue red shimmer. I think that OPI should have gone with some sort of white color to go along with the White Rabbit or even the White Queen, but that's just my thoughts on it.

I did end up getting both "Absolutely Alice" and "Mad as a Hatter". All I can say is *drool*. Okay that's more of an action than a word, but lets go with it. I will say that if you are interested in the colors, scoop them up cause they are going fast (actually the glitters were sold out of three stores I checked while the reds were left behind).

Another company that has jumped onto the Alice bandwagon is Urban Decay.

This pallet has 16 shadows (all shadows that they already sell, but changed the names for the movie), two eye liners and a small bottle of primer. It's a great box set, but it's not something I really thought about. I had heard that it was selling out like crazy (it's no longer available on the Urban Decay website), which in fact it is. I found one as I was walking through our local JCPenny's in-store Sephora. They had one left and I grabbed it. It was a total impulse buy, but I tried to justify it by saying I just tossed a old Urban Decay pallet that was way too old for its own good. It's a lie to myself and damnit I am sticking with this reasoning.

As great as the photos are from the internet, I have to share my own personal photos of my awesome purchases (there may be some new nail polishes that sneak into this blog as well).

The top of the Urban Decay pallet opens to a mirror as well as this wonderful pop-up scene with Alice wondering through mushrooms. You can also also see the Caterpillar in the upper left corner.

From L-R: My Private Jet (from permanent line), Parlez-vous OPI? (La Collection De France), DS Glow (Designer Series Fall 2009 release), Hot & Spicy (Hong Kong Collection), Meet Me On The Star Ferry (Hong Kong Collection)

"Parlez-vous OPI?" was a $5 sale find, I like the purple color it has. "Glow" is from their Designer Series line, which I love to death. The added "Glow" and another color to the line in the fall of 2009. Both "Hot & Spicy" and "Meet Me On The Star Ferry" are from the new Hong Kong Collection for the spring. I'm hoping that "Hot & Spicy" will be the coral color that I have been looking for.

Keep an eye out for the nail polish reviews that we all know will be happening with these amazing polishes!

What do you think of all of the Alice in Wonderland goods? Is there anything you are wanting from these lines?

  1. ooh lala! Hot and Spicy looks amazing, I want! Can't wait to see swatches of the Alice in Wonderland polishes. The UD palette looks fab too--the colors are beautiful! I just wish UD wasn't so sparkly all the time.

  2. Andi: I totally agree about UD being too glitter heavy, which leads to some bad fallout, but I couldn't resist. Only 7 of the colors are their glitter crazy colors and I'll probably use them for eyeliners.

  3. I love UD for certain occasions, although there are some colors you can wear day to day. I just wish I could find that pallete somewhere but I can't find it anywhere..grr!
Alice and Absolem would be an interesting but BOLD pairing. I wouldn't mind something like Midnight Cowboy with Queen.

I hope you play around with the colors and share with us the different combinations you come up with.

  4. Anon: The old pallet that I had included Queen in it. I actually really liked wearing it. I'm very very excited to try Absolem, but then I love green eyeshadow.

I would just try checking out both Sephora.com and UD's website for if it restocks. In fact I think you can sign up your email so they can tell you if it comes back. I hope you can find it!
